We spent some time talking about how many more are needed to make ten. We also talked about some ways to make them a little more fluent, including visualizing them while practicing with the Dots slide show (linked on the right) and playing "Go Fish for 10". We also talked about one powerful use of this set of facts.
This video should give a pretty good comparison between ways of looking at borrowing to subtract. Take From Ten helps to reduce the number of facts that a student needs to memorize and filter through to recall the desired fact, while working in the context of multi-step procedure.
